Stephen A. Smith slams Michael Irvin's exile from NFL broadcasting

Stephen A. Smith continues to speak his mind on his eponymous podcast, most recently ripping the exile of Michael Irvin for an alleged incident at a Marriott hotel employee in February.

Irvin was resultantly pulled off the air by NFL Network and has not been since on the airwaves since, including ESPN's flagship show, First Take.

Smith has previously criticized the move after a Marriott employee accused him of inappropriate behavior. Irvin has strongly denied those claims.

'I'm going to support my brother until you show me evidence to the contrary,' Smith said on his eponymous show Wednesday.

'As a black man, I have never liked, nor appreciated, the fact that a video could be shown of doing nothing but talking, we have no sound.... incriminating him.

Smith may be losing Keyshawn Johnson (R) but he is gaining Shannon Sharpe (L) this season

'We have no knowledge of what he said or didn't say. I have never been in support of his exile.'

As for his imminent move to the L.A.-based Undisputed, Smith is thrilled for his friend, The Playmaker.

'I'm happy for him, ecstatic for him, happy for Skip Bayless, sad for myself. Because I had that brother on Monday's.'

Irvin, along with Smith's fellow friend and ex-colleague Keyshawn Johnson will no longer be on the ESPN debate show.

Instead, according to Bayless, the pair will join him on his revamped FS1 program Undisputed.

'I'm not happy because Skip - I'm happy for him... I've got profound love for Skip Bayless. But as I'm sure as most of you know we can sit up there and say "our brothers from another mother", but it's a little bit different from the love for your brothers of the same ilk. Me, Keyshawn Johnson and Michael Irvin are just that.'

In an interesting turn of events, Sharpe's former debate partner, Shannon Sharpe, will be joining Bayless' old pal Stephen A. on First Take, debuting September 4.

Sharpe will be part of the programming on Mondays and Tuesdays opposite Smith. Yesterday he announced a partnership with Colin Cowherd's The Volume wherein his popular podcast Club Shay Shay will soon reside.
